Brand Bharat: An Assertive Nation in an Uncertain World

In the first two decades of the 21st century, the world had to press reboot button twice—during the financial crisis in 2008 and when a microscopic virus snapped lives out of millions between 2019 and 2021. Both disasters changed the world order forever, but one country emerged stronger every time—India, that is Bharat.

The post pandemic world is caught in two unending wars, one along Russia-Ukraine border and one in Gaza. These unwarranted conflicts, where human lives are daily casualties, now have disrupted the global sanity once again, throwing mankind into an uncertain future. The American supremacy is no longer what it used to be, the pace of China’s growth has slowed down, Russia is embroiled in a war it can’t get out of, Europe is caught in its own inertia, Africa is still struggling to play catch-up with the rest of the world and West Asian conflict threatens to spiral out of control any moment.

In an increasingly polarised environment, where rules of engagements have changed, Bharat, surrounded by unstable neighbourhood, walks the talk confidently, practising the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam(the world is one family) but never losing sight of its own interest and position in emerging world order. From leading the fight against Covid-19 pandemic to providing a decisive leadership to G20 nations to navigating its way out of two wars with a fine blend of pragmatism and diplomacy to standing its ground against developed nations on climate change, Bharat has branded itself as a nation ready to lead any mission for global good but without compromising its own convictions. From spirituality to knowledge economy, from yoga to Chandrayaan, Bharat’s global imprint is ever expanding.

With the world’s largest democracy heading for a defining electoral battle this summer, India Today Conclave’s 21st edition is all set to explore ideas on how in the coming decades, Bharat, with its political and economic stability and unique social vibrancy, can emerge as the epicentre of geopolitics and business.
