About the Event
Jashn-e-Qalam celebrates Hindustani literature and solo performances of short stories.
Story
Ever wondered, what makes a 'great' news story? What dark truths lie in the pursuit of justice? Reality is rarely pure and never simple!
Kamleshwar (6th Jan 1932 – 27th Jan 2007) depicted the trials and tribulations of a fast changing society, groping for new values in the face of the collapse of the old value system. True human sensitivity, his works demonstrate, is the antithesis of the sense of alienation that characterizes today's metropolis.
Marhoom Ki Yaad Mein
Why have enemies when you can have friends? Ride this roller-coaster of laughs that delves into the strange connections between friendship and honesty, humour and pain, comedy and tragedy.
Patras Bokhari (1st October 1898 – 5th December 1958) was an Urdu humourist, educator, essayist, broadcaster and diplomat from Pakistan. He graduated from Cambridge University with a diploma in English, served as the principal of GC University, was chosen as director general of All India Radio, and also worked closely with the secretary-general of the UN. His seminal collection of essays, Patras Kay Mazameen earned him the status of an eminent Urdu humourist.
Chechak Ke Daag
A beautiful bride-to-be sees the groom for the first time on her wedding day. Her dreams turn into a nightmare; the prince's face is not so charming. Is beauty in the eyes of the beholder?
Rajinder Singh Bedi (1st September 1915 – 11th November 1984) wrote of lives that were common-place but hidden in their very ordinariness, the human spirit shone through in all its lustre and brilliance. His gift for finding the inner meaning in outer reality took Bedi into the realms of suggestion, symbolism, metaphor & allusion.
