Joy of Reading is an initiative by GetLitt!, a children’s digital library.

This initiative presents an opportunity to touch the lives of children, by engaging them through stories! The aim is to provide quality reading material to children who don't have easy access to this.

By volunteering for this initiative, you will read a story from the GetLitt! platform to the children and engage them through storytelling. The event is being organised for Udaan Indian Foundation that works with children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Please note: There are limited volunteer spots available, and hence prior registration is a must.

How can volunteers help?:

• Once a volunteer signs up, they get access to the platform along a list of books that are recommend to read out
• Alongside they receive a booklet has basic activities and tips for the story reading session
• Once a volunteer reaches the venue, they make children and themselves comfortable
• The volunteer uses the Get Litt platform, choses the story to read and makes the room come alive by spreading the joy of reading

The GetLitt! digital platform provides access to quality books to children. It aims to make reading an everyday activity, something that children enjoy and look forward to!

The GetLitt! team has formerly worked as Writer's Bug, a group that has been around for 5 years and has conducted creative writing programmes and helped set up literature festivals across Mumbai's schools.

Things to keep in mind:

• Volunteering is by registration only. Walk-ins without prior registration will not be accommodated.
• Volunteers should be comfortable with English and Hindi/Marathi
• An interest in working with children is a necessary requirement
