“Sometimes reality is too complex. Stories give it form.”
Katha Sambhava is just that - an exploratory journey of oral stories. Shylaja Sampath and Aparna Jaishankar bring to you a potpourri of Folk, Indic and Authored Tales. These have been carefully crafted with a dash of complexity and a dollop of humour. This one hour is for a mature audience (16+) to sit back, unwind and rediscover the pleasure of listening to stories.
About the artists:
Shylaja Sampath:
An educator, storyteller and a theatre artist, Shylaja Sampath has carved a niche for herself in the storytelling space. Her love for inter-personal communication and zest for knowledge has driven her to educate and engage through entertainment.
In the education space, Shylaja has taught science, been a headmistress and also trained teachers. As a theater artist, she has performed in plays including Gumma banda Gumma, Sadarame and Boiled Beans on Toast, a few short films and advertisements.
As a Storyteller, she has created a lasting impact by lending her voice to Annie - the world's first Braille literary device, educating under-privileged children via stories at Hasirudala, a Bangalore based non-profit and performing at various events including those at Ranga Shankara.
Aparna Jaishankar:
Aparna Jaishankar has worn many hats in her life as a corporate trainer, eco awareness campaigner, theatre enthusiast, dabbler of art forms, but the most soul satisfying of them all is her Storyteller’s hat.
Aparna has performed at festivals across India like the Bangalore Poetry Festival, AG on Wheels, Katha Karnival, Kathai Galatta to name a few. Her love for stories in all formats has helped her collaborate with people pursuing various art forms. History, Languages, Ethics and Perspectives are some of the topics covered in her modules for educators. Her passion lies in exploring Indic Mythology with a contemporary lens.
