About the Event
Do you know the feeling of walking on freshly fallen snow upon green meadows as you begin your journey with Pine trees all along the way? Your way to summit has too much to handle for you. Starting from beautiful Pine trees to 360 degree view of Snow clad peaks of Garhwal Himalayas; it is bound to make you feel overwhelmed. Make sure to carry a camera or camera phone so that you freeze the moments you witnessed on this serene Himalayan Trip.
We Suggest
Ø Please meet the Pravaasah Team at Haridwar Railway Station on Day 1
Ø For Departures, we would be reaching Haridwar by evening 6 - 7 pm. Kindly book your travel arrangements accordingly.
Day 1: Drive from Haridwar to Sankri
We begin our drive to Sankri, passing the banks of River Tons and moving forward towards the ‘Queen of Hills’ (a.k.a Mussoorie). You might want to stop and for a moment to take it all in. We’ll reach the base village late in the evening where you get comfortable in your little tents and ready yourselves for hearty meal. Keep the excitement alive and take enough rest before we head out tomorrow on the most amazing trek of your life.
Day 2: And it begins from Sankri to Juda-Ka-Talab
We begin our trail to Juda-Ka-Talab starts with a steep climb which go on till we reach a ridge and it spans out sooner for almost most of the journey. This trail lets you experience a short walk across wooden bridges, View a wide array of snow covered grounds where huts and cottages reside. Behold the magnifying beauty of Kedarkantha as the ascent of the trail increases. Make sure to look above you as you might see Himalayan Langurs swinging merrily between trees.
Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base
We begin out third day with a little of climbing up a ridge that eventually opens up into the darkest part of the pine forest. But the climb won’t be a constant darkness as you will come across many clearings and range of meadows. You will now be witnessing the panoramic view of snowy ranges encircling the Kedarkantha Peak. Also look out for the Trio ranges of the Bandarpooch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana that are ready to be admired. As the night arrives, eyes go up as the “Milky Way” comes out clearly in the sky to fill you up with peace and wonder and calm your anticipation for next day’s summit climbing.
Day 4: Hit the Summit, descend down to Kedarkantha
Today we begin our ascent from the camp and the first view we get will be that of the summit. The northern ridge gives way to the summit which also includes a series of switchbacks to reach the Kedarkantha Temple. We stop there to pay respects and later that we get to view Gangotri, Yamunotri and the Kinner Kailash ranges while standing on the summit. Let your mind take a picture of this view, we won’t rush you.
We then start our return to the base camp. Your climb down won’t be boring at all, you’ll definitely enjoy it.
Day 5: Return from Sankri
We will be reaching Sankri early so that we get good enough rest before leaving for Delhi next day. Although we won’t stop you from celebrating the climb to the summit, so you can enjoy every bit of the trip.
Day 6: Drive from Sankri to Haridwar
Just like the circle of life, we head back to Haridwar. Spend some quality time in the bylanes of this budding city. Board the train from Haridwar Railway station to Delhi at night and say goodbye to this amazing journey.
Remember to Carry
A photocopy of your Identity Proof (Passport / Voter ID Card/PAN Card/Aadhar Card/ Driving License)
Rucksack – If you are offloading your Rucksack, you will need a small daypack to carry your basic essentials
Good trekking shoes and a pair of slip-ons, if required for campsite
2 Water Bottles (1 litre each)
Woolen or Fleece Gloves and a pair of waterproof gloves
Cotton socks and woolen socks (2 pairs each)
Balaclava, Woolen scarf – If you do not have a Balaclava, you can carry Monkey cap instead
Thermal Inners
Fleece Jacket, Snow Jacket or Padded Jacket (1 each)
Windcheater or Poncho
2-3 pairs of trek pants
2 collared and full sleeved t-shirts – Do not carry loose t-shirts as they tend to make you feel cold
Camera or Binoculars
Ready to eat snacks, Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D Powder – Carry nuts, dryfruits, energy bars to munch during the trek. They provide instant energy whenever it hits the lower base.
Cap, Sunglasses – Do ensure that your sunglasses are UV Protected. Do not carry reflectors.
Headlamp/LED Torch – Mandatory
Toiletries – Sunscreen, Moisturizer, light towel, lip balm, wet wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, Hand Sanitizer, Mosquito repellent, if required
Polythene Bags or Zip-lock Bags – These help to segregate wet clothes, used wet wipes or sanitary napkins on trek
Any medicines that you normally consume – Please consult your doctor in this regard
Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Smoking is strictly not allowed. Anybody found smoking or consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without refund.
Fitness & Health – Though trekking is a fun-filled activity, it demands good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over the counter medication for temporary treatment, so if you happen to need any assistance, give them a heads up.
