KEKAO is an electronic music label based out of Kochi that promotes underground music and culture. Kochi is going to witness its first ever warehouse music party in January 2019 that focuses on the amalgamation of art and music. The label is partnering with India’s only contemporary art festival- The Kochi Muziris Biennale under the ‘Music of Muziris' programme. Kekao’s first artist association is with XCPT, a record label based in Italy. Kekao's exclusive line up will include Dona aka DJ Plant Texture (Ilian tape, Unknown To The Unknown, XCPT) , Nothus, and Delikwe (Founders, XCPT), and Stalvart John. This warehouse party is scheduled to happen on 19.01.2019 at the Map space project, Fort Kochi. KEKAO will bring to the people a unique experience that showcases the origins of dance music culture.
DONA AKA DJ PLANT TEXTURE - Dedication and research are the value that personifies Dona as a musician. Having a background in drums, percussions and piano studies, Dona found his own path experimenting with machines constantly looking to redefine his boundaries and enhance his sound design skills. Dona has been plunging into the depths of electronic music, ranging from Jungle and Drum Bass to House and Techno as well as Ambient and Electronics. Dona’s original tracks include works from Jamal Moss, Anthony Shakir, Vakula, Juju & Jordash to name a few. DJ Plant Texture’s revisitations and reinterpretations of the UK Jungle, D&B and Hardcore flavors are his notable works. His releases on Ilian Tape, Creme Organization, Unknown To The Unknown and 10Pills Mate are also commendable. Apart from being a Dj & producer Dona also runs a record shop E.X.P Records in his hometown, Bari.
STALVART JOHN - If you are an electronic music fanatic in India, it is impossible to miss the very accomplished DJ, music producer and a radio host Stalvart John. Reintroducing our own Stalvart John to Kochi where it all began for him is our honor. The pure sound of electronic music was introduced to Kerala through his unprecedented efforts that contributed immensely to the uprising of the underground music culture in Kerala. Creativity is his forté and this reflects on the soundscape he works around. He has also left an imminent mark by opening the Magnetic Feilds Festival, 2017! Producing music influenced by his unique style has led him to release on the finest labels such as Wind Horse Records, Hot Elephant Music and Mind Field Records.
