About the workshop

From posture and muscle memory, to efficiency and mental awareness, there are so many advanced techniques out there. This workshop will show you how to plan and organize your very own comprehensive list of advanced guitar techniques that you need to become a highly advanced player in a cohesive and organized fashion that is easy to understand.

In this workshop, Kevin will share his knowledge and resources by demonstrating his comprehensive thought process using his "toolbox" approach, as well as other proven strategies to bring repertoire into fruition on the concert stage.

About Kevin Loh

A recipient of the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music, Kevin Loh is one of the leading classical guitarists of his generation in Singapore, having won many international accolades and honours, such as the 1st prize of the 34th Volos International Guitar Competition, the Guitar Foundation of America International Youth Competition, the International Competition for Young Guitarists <Andrés Segovia>, and most recently the Cambridge University Musical Society Concerto Competition.

As an active performer, he has performed all over the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He has been invited to many guitar festivals including London, Hong Kong and Calcutta amongst others as a performing artist, giving masterclasses as well as sharing his knowledge and experience on developing as a musician. In addition, he has worked with various chamber groups and orchestras including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, with whom Kevin gave the world premiere of the Guitar Concerto by Singaporean composer Prof. Bernard Tan in 2013. More recently, he was named the 2019 Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s President’s Young Performer.

Kevin studied at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in the United Kingdom at the age of 12 with Richard Wright as their first Asian guitarist, where he received coaching from many of the world’s leading guitarists and musicians, including John Williams, Paolo Pegoraro, Tilmann Hoppstock, Pavel Steidl, Simone Fontanelli, Stephen Goss & Jonathan Leathwood amongst others. After finishing two years of mandatory military service in the Singapore Armed Forces, he is now back in the United Kingdom pursuing his undergraduate degree in Music at Girton College, University of Cambridge as the College Music Scholar as well as a scholar of the Loke Cheng-Kim Foundation.
