About the Event

What roots you? Where do you belong? Sometimes our roots stem from where we grew up. Sometimes we find ourselves between playgrounds, home and dinner tables. Maybe your roots are people: our family or our friends, those who make us feel grounded no matter what. Is it that place where you find home even though it's new? Is it the soft toy you hugged to sleep, the tree you first climbed, the taste of an almost-forgotten dish? No matter how far we go eventually we all return to our roots. Come, tell us your "Roots" stories.


The Roots Story Slam will take place in Delhi on 5th May at Innov8 Coworking, CP from 5 pm onwards.

If you want to participate, please read the rules carefully:
- To send in your entry for the slam, email an audio and text file of your story/poem to team@kommuneity.co.in with the subject line "Roots Delhi"
- The theme for this session is 'Roots'. All stories and poems must reflect the theme.
- Only original stories and poems are allowed.
- The time limit is 5 minutes per story/poem.
- Language - we welcome stories/poems in Hindi, English, and the city’s local language.
- Each person can submit only one poem or story.
- If you are selected to perform at the slam, you will not have to purchase a ticket for the slam.
- The deadline to send in your entries is 11:59 pm, 28th April, 2019.
Why Should You Attend The Story Slam?
- Kommune story slams are intimate evenings where storytellers and poets get a chance to tell their stories.
- More importantly, however, it's a chance to perform in front of a supportive crowd and become a better artist.
- Some of the best poets and storytellers have been story slam winners – this includes names like Mohammed Sadriwala and Gaurav Tripathi!
