Konarak Reddy is a pioneer and legend among music aficionados in India. He is renowned for his finger-style playing, as well as for integrating Hindustani and Carnatic styles of improvisation into his guitar technique.
Konarak Reddy very rarely plays in Bangalore, so this is a treat for his friends and followers!
Konarak says of his music - "Well, I grew up in Madras. The sounds I heard were so many, the call of the muezzin, the cries of manga-thenga-battani-sundal on Marina Beach, MS's Shubhrabhatham and also my parent's western classical and jazz LP's, my mother's love of flamenco and then, rock and roll hit us. Jimi Hendrix and playing electric guitar... :) "
Konarak first studied western classical theory on guitar, and then became proficient on the sarod, which he studied with Gurus Debi Prasad Ghosh and Rajeev Taranath. His much talked about pulling technique on guitar and his beautiful alaaps come from his skill on the sarod. He studied jazz improvisation at Berklee College of Music and graduated with Honours from the Guitar Performance Program at Musician's Institute, Hollywood. His teachers have included guitar greats such as Joe Diorio, Scott Henderson and Peter Sprague. Over the years, Konarak has performed and toured with a range of world-class musicians including Claus Boesser-Ferrari, Jacques Stotzem, Peter Finger, Dr. L. Subramaniam, Ahmed El-Salamouny, Antonio Forcione, George Laval, Maynard Fergusson, Embryo, and Orexis.
To create awareness around the guitar and its diverse styles, he initiated the idea of World Guitar Nights in Bangalore.
Konarak Reddy has been inviting international guitarists to perform in India as part of World Guitar Nights (WGN) since 2007. The event was magnified 4 years ago by adding an All India Finger-style Competition to cater to the burgeoning numbers of guitarists in India.
Thanks to global interest, the event has gone international and is now called the Global Guitar Gita Competition.
Roberto Narain
Back in the 80’s, Konarak and Roberto developed a unique set of original compositions, using acoustic guitar, voice, synth and drums, written to be performed by 2 musicians. The music ranges from rock to samba to jazz with a strong element of the vibe of Bangalore in the 70's.
The have come together again to bring this kind of style to the present generation of music lovers.

Rachanachar (supporting act)
It was only a few years ago, when Pranjal Uniyal (stage name 'Rachnachar') was about to finish college that he first picked up a guitar. Before he knew it, “I was expressing myself through it,” the modern-age percussive acoustic finger-style guitarist, gets us started on his love affair with music that might have begun late, but is going to last a lifetime.
Coming from the hilly town of Shimla, Pranjal writes songs which narrate the story of a fictional character named Rachnachar. Although his music has deep roots in folk music, it resonates with all audiences.
