Mud mirror art (Lippan Kaam) originated among the women in Kutch who wanted to make their homes looks beautiful, despite the harsh conditions they live in, using easily available local supplies. But the art is so jaw-droppingly beautiful that this remote tribal art has found admirers and practitioners all around the country and the world.

At our upcoming Mud Mirror Art workshop with @mudmirrorart, create a magnificent object d’art for your home using this ancient tribal Kutch technique.

Materials required:

• Surface options (Any shape) :

i. MDF board - - - - - - - - ii. Plywood (6mm/ 8mm)

iii. Wooden box - - - - - - - - - - iv. Wooden tray

• Size of surface : Anything near 10x10 inches (A smaller or slightly bigger size shall also work)
• Mouldit clay
• Fevicol
• Acrylic colors (shades like Ultramarine/ Yellow ochre/ Burnt Sienna/ Black/ White are commonly used)
• (For a white artwork, keep around 100ml white paint handy)
• (For terracotta color artwork, Asian Paints Royale Shade 8669 can be used)
• Mirrors (different shapes like square, circle, diamond as per your choice) (Small/medium sizes as per the size of your surface)
• Round brush (preferably size 3)
• Flat brush (preferably size 6 / 7)
• Pencil
• Scale
• Water
• Sponge/ waste cloth
