Kunal Kamra, the comedian whose sketch on patriotism and demonetization filled your Facebook feeds a few months ago, is back with a podcast, which is totally worth your time.
Called 'Shut Up Ya, Kunal', it aims to get people talking about politics and get to know the people behind the organizations everyone makes fun of (or are scared of). 3 episodes have been shot at the time of writing, one has been released, and more are in the offing, so you might want to stay tuned to his YouTube channel. The first episode sees him talking to the BJP Youth Wing Vice President, Madhukeshwar Desai, touching on all topics you think he would.
One awesome thing about the show, apart from the discussion itself, is the production: There are frequent clips that add on to the point or bring in humour, and provide great visual / audio relief from the chat itself.

Insider caught up with the man to understand what his inspiration to start the show was (and more!)
What was your inspiration to start the podcast?
It was meant to humanize politicians. They are, too, at the end of the day, people like you and me. They are demonized way too much, especially (ironically enough) by comedians. I think there's a certain amount of awareness that's needed, and that will come when you speak to an actual politician. This country needs to get talking about politics more - not the trolling / bashing, but in terms of rights, what's in the constitution, who these men and women are. Another major objective I have is to criticize the news. That's very important, I feel.
I hope to use my reach and audience in order to get that message out.
How's the show going to roll out?
So I have 3 episodes as of now (21 July 2017). One is released, and I'll put out the others as and when I feel like the previous ones are well consumed. There's no fixed timeline, as such! The shows are of various formats too. In the first show, I speak to someone from the BJP, and in the second, someone from the Congress. The first show had no audience, second had a live audience, and the third had no audience but two guests. So I'll keep experimenting with the format to see what works for me and the viewers. After this, I'll be asking for a wishlist from viewers and will try to get in touch with those names. So yes, that's how it's going to happen!

The production is quite awesome.
Yes! I've got a great editor for the show. I think it's important to add those elements - like news clips - because it should show news being criticized. Plus, the edits are done in a way where the segues don't feel awkward.
I'll be asking for a wishlist from viewers and will try to get in touch with those names.
