The Actors Collective & Lahe Lahe present the first ever 'online performer's playback theatre workshop'. This 15 hour workshop is conducted by ace Playbacker Rajesh P.I. The online workshop is a journey of self exploration, creation and honing one's skills. Using the tools of art, Journaling, theatre, improv & creative visualization, the workshop promises to be a feast for one's soul. Rajesh will mentor each participant in the nuances of Playback acting with regard to online Playback Theatre. This is very different from the form that is used in the non-online settings. Originally created by Jonathan Fox & Jo Salas in the 70's, Playback Theatre is today a global movement spanning more than 70 countries.

The workshop is among many things - an acting course, a leadership course, an introspective journey in empathy, an improvisational toolbook, a workshop in developing and enhancing creativity, a spiritual journey through finding one's strengths and a soul nourishing experience. By the end of the workshop, participants become part of the active online performing Community of The Actors Collective.

Rajesh was among the earliest to be trained in this form in 2000 by Bev Hoskings & Mary Good from International Playback Theatre Network (IPTN). He along with his then team mates set the foundation for a vibrant Playback Theatre community in Bangalore. With 27 years of theatre experience behind him and 20 years of Playback Theatre, Rajesh has never let the curious child in him take a backseat. His passion, energy, commitment & positivity is contagious. In 2017, he inspired his team to believe that they could bid for the IPTN Conference (a once in 4 years International event). It became a reality in 2019 December with 278 delegates from 77 countries participating in this event at Christ University. It was an act of service and enabled numerous participants from India and the surrounding regions to participate, who otherwise would have probably never attended an event of this nature. Rajesh has been the India Representative & South Asian Representative of IPTN from 2017-2019. Today, The Actors Collective is unaffiliated to any international group or mentors. The group is happily creating its own unique journey with its 80-member group of Playbackers.

With Covid 19 striking us all, Playback Theatre - the theatre of real life stories is finding it's niche online presence all over the world. The need for sharing the personal story is more important than ever before. Through this initiative, The Actors Collective will support a larger robust online Playback community, which will continue to meet and rehearse regularly even after the workshop is over.
