Origami, an art form that has been in existence for over 1,400 years, has certainly stood the test of time. True to any art form, its prevalence over the centuries has evolved. From being a purely oral tradition in Japan, to the documentation of the work in a book which is 200 years old, to the current times, where the art form has been integrated into every culture across the world, Origami has metamorphosed into a thriving art form. This ancient art form has now found a place in every innovation in the fields of engineering, mathematics,

medicine, aerospace, fashion designing and so on.

About the Artist:

A father plays to the curiosity of his young and restless teenager by giving a complex origami puzzle to solve. The result? The boy spends hours together solving the same and cracking it at the first attempt. Kartik realised the powerful art form that Origami was back then and the level of fascination for it has been the same, or only intensified over the past 14 years.

He co-founded the Origami Society of Madras in 2011, with his friend and has been active in the Chennai and Bengaluru origami circles. He has conducted workshops and participated in exhibitions for the Japanese consulate, Louis Vuitton, Apollo hospitals, Lalit Kala Academy, The Hindu, IBM, Chinmaya Mission in addition to conducting periodic workshops for young and old alike. With a firm belief that Origami is a meditative journey, that would transform an artist, Kartik is determined create awareness and spread this art form whose beauty every individual needs to appreciate.
