The Women Car Rally is a Time Speed Distance (TSD) event, wherein, given are – a set of instructions specifying the route to be taken, and the speed at which you are expected to drive (the proposed speeds are very nominal and do not exceed the maximum permissible speed, for the given road, at any time).

A team, consisting of a driver (its a prerequisite that the driver be a woman) and a navigator, are expected to travel on the specified route, exactly at the speed specified for that competitive section. As the Rally is a TSD event, it’s not at all about speeding. Driving too fast results in penalties, as does going too slow. Arriving too early at a checkpoint hurts the team’s score, as does arriving too late. The team score is evaluated based on the difference in the expected arrival time and the actual time taken to enter a checkpoint.
