Siju Ashok is a fifth generation dyer from Kutch. A true maverick, in this workshop, Siju shares innovative cotton dyeing techniques he has developed for Indigo and Coffee. A lot of his work explores material memory - his methods are intuitive and responsive. He will teach us how to work in a maaner that draws out the best in ourselves when we interact with dyeing ingredients.

RAAGA tells the enduring melody of Cotton and Coffee through the medium of the sensorium. It conjures up all things that we care about most; a sense of community, a search for our identity and a reverence for memory that is held within the material reach of Cotton and Coffee; two subtle, though significant entities of our everyday lives.

Rooted in Sanskrit, literally translating to “colouring, tingeing or dyeing”, RAAGA explores the collections at YALI and ARAKU Coffee. A narrative that reaches from soil to the cosmos to help you understand how we are touched by Cotton and Coffee in ways beyond our imagination, invoking a material memory within us.
