Rajgad Fort Trek: All You Need To Know Rajgad Fort is a fort located somewhere near Katraj. It offers a mesmerizing view of the Sahyadri Mountains and is located at an altitude of 4,250ft. You will be able to observe the beautiful Torna and Sinhagad right from the Rajgad fort itself. When Should You Go For Rajgad Fort Trek? If you ask us when's the best time to go for trekking on Rajgad Fort, then we might come up with an answer that will tell you to visit the fort right now only. We can't even describe in words how you feel when you go for trekking on this fort. However, if you want to know when's the best season to visit this fort, then you should visit the fort in monsoon or winter. You will love the trekking experience during the monsoons as you will be able to observe waterfalls as well as spectacular greenery all around the place. In winter, the fort is filled with cool breeze surrounding all over the place. However, if you visit this fort during the monsoon, then we might advise you to wear shoes with a good grip as the road might get a bit slippery. If you are looking out for a camping experience on this fort, then the best season for camping in winter. You will love to take a camping experience during the winter season. How Can I Visit This Fort? Nasrapur is known to be around 15-20kms far from the Katraj Tunnel, and it's the best route that will take you to the fort. You need to reach to Nasrapur via NH 4 which is approximately 35kms. from the Pune Station. There are a huge number of base villages on this fort. We have mentioned all the routes that will take you to the fort: Gunjawane The trekking can get a bit difficult for you as it will lead you to Chor Darwaja. It will take you around 2.5 hours to reach your destination. You can take multiple breaks during your route to the fort. If this is the first time for you, then we might advise you to choose the Pali Village route as it’s less difficult when compared to Gunjawane. Pali Route This route will be taking you to the front entrance of the Rajgad fort. This route is comparatively easy when from the Gunjawane one. Hence, if you are an inexperienced trekker and are going for trekking for the first time, then we might advise you to choose this route. Bhor Route You need to go for the Bhor Route from the NH4. After that, we will advise you to go for Bhutonde from Bhor. From Bhutonde, it will take you a period of 3 to 4 hours in order to reach the Alu Darwaja of the Rajgad Fort. This route is not considered to be famous by the usual trekkers. However, if you are looking for a change, then we might advise you to take this route as it will lead you to a totally new experience and will be quite adventurous. Do We Have Any Tips? Yes, We Do. The difficulty level of trekking on Rajgad fort is considered to be moderate. It will take you about 2.5 hours to reach the top if you choose the Pali Route. And if you choose the Gunjawane route, then just add about half an hour to the 2.5, and you will reach your destination (That's a total of 3 hours.) Provisions Of Food And Beverages As usual, we recommend packing your own water bottle in your trekking bag. We recommend you to fill about 3 litres of water for one trekker. The villagers are known to serve Bhaji, Poha as well as Zhunka Bhakari at the temple Padmavati located on the fort during the weekends. However, we advise you to carry with yourselves your own food. Don’t carry too much with you. Info About Camping At Rajgad Fort It's a fort that's popular for the camping experience. You can explore a whole lot when you visit this fort. You will not be able to cover the entire fort in a day. Hence, provisions are made for the camping experience at the fort itself. At night, you will absolutely love the beauty of the fort. A total of two temples are located at this fort where you can spend your night if you don’t have tents equipped with you. You don’t need to worry about the security at this place. Both of the temples are known to have working doors. If your group consists of females and children, then we recommend you to travel in a group of 8-10. So what are you waiting for?
