Equally at home as a record producer, a session bass player, and a diverse selector, Nathan Thomas has become a formidable presence in India’s independent music scene. The Mumbai-based musician’s solo project, NATE08, treads the hallowed, groove-oriented territories of Funk, RnB, and House. Nathan imbues his productions with a sense of familiarity with classic records of the past, while adding a fresh energy to 21st-century dance-floors.

DRUM ANI BASS

The brainchild of bass player Nathan Thomas and drummer Dhir Mody, Drum ani Bass evolved out of improvised jungle/drum n bass jams at 1403. Inclined in the same direction, Nathan and Dhir have been experimenting with their sound and taking it live in different musical settings with room for innovation and improvisation. The idea is to emulate electronic music ideas into a live performance setting. Within this format the band explores jungle, footwork, drum n bass, dub and glitch beats. Their individual as well as band sound has drawn attention from various mainstream and indie musicians and producers from across the country, managing to acquaint the audience with a fresh live dnb sound.

Drum ani Bass focuses on exploring creativity on their instruments and using digital technology to express a new form of music which draws influence from the electronic music of today and the free attitude of Jazz.
