Joyous, merry and visually striking – feelings that sum up a Santhal painting. It’s like the artist dipped their brush in happiness and splashed colour to give life to serene figures.

The Santhal tribe is located at the Bihar/Bengal borders, uses cloth and natural vegetable colours. Themes revolve around happy times like harvest and weddings and the figures are usually dramatically exaggerated for aesthetic appeal. Animals and birds also find a place here.

One look at it and you break into a smile, isn’t it?

This is a two day workshop on zoom (one and a half hour each day). It is a live session and no recordings will be provided.

The workshop will be conducted in Hindi.

Painting and detailing of all the elements.

The painting might not complete in the session. You can complete it and send us pictures.

The artwork may or may not finish during the session. We shall start and finish as much as possible and send you a complete image of what is taught during the session.
