In this two-day course, we further examine the use of Specialty Coffee Association's (SCA) Coffee Taster's Flavor Wheel and the World Coffee Research Sensory Lexicon for enhanced sensory recognition. This session includes acid profiling and multiple cupping sessions using the SCA Coffee Taster's Score Sheet to understand the nuances of coffee, followed by lively discussions. Proper protocol for arranging professional cupping sessions is reviewed, integrating SCA / Cup of Excellence (COE) standards.

This course is accredited by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) – if you take the optional SCA Written and Practical Exam ($276) and pass, you will receive an SCA certificate in ‘Sensory Skills, Intermediate Level’ and earn 10 points toward your SCA Coffee Skills Diploma. This is a two-day class, from 10 am to 6 pm on both days, including an hour-long lunch break. All attendees upon attending the first SCA course, must register online as a learner with SCA, to track their progress. There is no charge for this. We do this together at the start of course. All learners enjoy a cup of coffee on arrival and receive a coffee bean pin at the end of the course!
