Topic: Gravity through Einstein's eyes

Einstein gave us a totally new perspective to look at Gravity. Gravity, as per his theory of relativity, is not a force. It rather causes space-time to curve and warp which leads to magnificent mirages called Gravitational lenses.

Einstein's theory also predicted the existence of Gravitational waves, ripples in space-time. Detection of Gravitational waves, in the last decade, led to the first direct detection of Black holes and many more exciting discoveries. In this talk, I will give you a glimpse of what we can learn from gravitational lenses and gravitational waves and what awaits in the next decade!

About the Speaker: Anupreeta More is a scientist at the Inter-University Centre of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). Her research focuses on gravitational lensing, gravitational waves and cosmology. She is one of the PIs of Space Warps, a citizen science project to discover lenses. She is involved in major international projects such as the Rubin LSST and LIGO. At a personal level, she deeply cares about sustainable living and strives to follow an environment-friendly lifestyle.
