ABOUT THE WALK
Delhi. A city of nomads. Sarais that let the wayfarers rest, drink, feed their travel companion and then move on. A city that has been lived for thousands of years. A city that has always accepted and owned those who have come in.
Delhi is a cosmos of diaspora, those that have come in and walked on, mind you never out, one such is of the Bengali speaking community. A community that did not come only from the present day Bengal but pre and post partition from both East as well as West Pakistan. Infact from all over the country. A community that had a large number of people who worked with the British, as well as post partition, with the Indian government. Like all diaspora, a community that has tried to stay connected to its past -- Tagore, Jamini Roy and may others. A community that loves food, fuchka, jhal muri and of course Durga Poojo.
Come meander through the lanes, meet shop keepers, hear the urban folklore join in for lebu cha, mochar chop and jhal muri.
