We Are The Aliens We Are Looking For brings together works by Indian and international artists around ideas of the strange, weird and different that we often tend to 'other'. Thinking of the atypical in the feminine, the queer, the digital existence and/or the physical experience as a metaphor for the alien. And alienation as an act of othering. Perhaps the little aliens, the quirks and weirdness that we know inside of us, we seek, pursue or avoid and reject outside of us. That which makes us uniquely human and that which can remind us to 'dasein' together.

It will run at 1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery for one day only on 24th September, 12-9 pm. As part of the programme, there will be artist films and experimental video screenings through the day, alongside sculpture, drawings and experimental music.

This event is organised independently by Sizzle Lyk Dat Studio and is curated by Tasneem Lohani. As an independent arts organisation, we can only continue to put out exhibitions and events with your support. And so this event exhibition is ticketed at a small fee of Rs.150 so that we can fairly pay the artists, organisers and the venue. To break it down, 40% of your ticket will go to the artists in the show, 30% will go towards the venue, 1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery and 30% will go to the admin and curatorial team. With this ticket, you can visit the one-day event exhibition, avail snacks and drinks available all through the day as well as an exhibition postcard at the venue.

About the Organisers:

Sizzle Lyk Dat Studio is an independent arts organisation founded by Tasneem Lohani in 2021. It functions as a travelling platform which curates events and exhibitions supporting young and emerging art practices.

1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery is a non for profit art gallery and residency space founded by Suresh Jayaram. Situated in the centre of Bengaluru it nurtures creative and cutting-edge art practice.
