Here comes the BOOM! Skrat’s Wake Up Tour, 2022: 15 Years On the Road

In myths and fables, the ‘Skrat’ is a mischievous creature - possessing gold and other riches. They exist as dragons or even cats! Over in Chennai, this mysterious creature takes the form of a hard hitting, foot stomping, three piece band who share the same name - Skrat, but whose gold and other riches manifest in the form of booming, riffy, garage-rock goodies.

The trio consists of T.T. Sriram on Guitar and vocals, Jhanu Chanthar on Bass guitar and Tapass Naresh on Drums who first came together in 2006 - releasing their debut album ‘Design’ in 2010. Since then, they’ve gone on to release ‘Bring Out the Big Guns’ in 2013 followed by ‘The Queen’ in 2014 and most recently, ‘Bison’ in 2017.

In that time the band’s line up has remained the same, and so have the tools they use to produce their sound - guitars, bass and drums. But the songs and what they sing about, is an entirely different matter. It is common for Skrat to write about dreamed up characters and their inherent struggles. In fact, it is one of the things that made them popular - besides the engaging hooks, an adrenaline infused beat and high octane live performances.
