Remember the bliss you experience when you whirled around as a child? At Zorba the Buddha, we’re giving you the chance to experience just that!

As we begin to whirl we will create spirals and circles through manifestation of sacred energies, flowers, birds, and planets, and create freeform Whirling and Mediation in motion circles.

We will learn basic technique of Sufi whirling such as maintaining balance, controlling dizziness, and self-focus.

We will understand how the Organic culture of the Dervishes World, gives rise to excitement and joy through Mystical music.

We will journey into Sacred Dances and healing movements from Iran and Central Asia, expressing inner feelings, motions, and movements through poetry and Chanting.

Facilitator Bio: Surya Demah

Surya Demah, a master musician from Iran is coming to Zorba the Budhha again to enchant us with his devotional rhythms and songs and voices praising Pir Shams, known by many to be the guru, the “beloved,” of the greatest Persian poet, Jalaluddin Rumi.

He will come to teach us How to make samazen or whirling Dance and make a remedy for our soul that in sufism called Jan.

His music comes from greater lineage of an amazing 13th-14th-century.
