Suman Sridhar & The Black Mamba’s urban contemporary sound traverses effortlessly between cultures, genres and languages; afropunk, opera, jazz, Indian classical, hip-hop and electronica against the backdrop of cascading vocal crescendos and counterpoint melodies. The result is a contemporary genre – worldbeat wherein divergent performance traditions are inexorably fused. The 4-piece band including live vocals, drums, bass and guitar features repertoire performed in the contemporary fashion that Suman Sridhar is renowned for. Suman Sridhar is a musician, composer and actor from Mumbai / New Jersey. She works at the intersection of music, film, performance art, theater. She is recognized for singing chart topping Bollywood film songs such as Fifi (Bombay Velvet, 2015), Muskaane Jhooti Hain (Talaash, 2012), Khoya Khoya Chand (Shaitan, 2011). As a songwriter and performer, she is recognized by Rolling Stone magazine for redefining indie music in India. Suman's genre- bending work has received awards and nominations including Best Female Playback Singer- Times of India Film Awards, Best Female Indie Artist - MTV Video Music Awards India, Band & Album of the Year- Jack Daniel's Rock Awards.
