ABOUT THE EVENT

Join us for an evening of traditional Rajasthani folk music, featuring the Talab Khan Project. Talab Khan belongs to the Manganiyar community, known for their enchanting musical heritage. A talented harmonium and khartal player, he shines bright as he sings traditional folk songs in Marwari and Sindhi, and he also brings new life to Sufi music with his unique renditions of many famous songs.

He is accompanied by Chotu Khan, his youngest brother on harmonium and vocals, and Goram Khan joining him on the dholak with his powerful rhythms. Savita Sapera, folk dancer and singer will be joining them to bring alive the magic of Kalbelia dance and songs, which were popularised by women like Gulabo Sapera, giving women from the community a new life and courage to step out of their homes and empower themselves. 

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Talab Khan lives in Harwa village in Barmer, Rajasthan. He belongs to the Manganiyar community, known for their enchanting musical heritage. His journey of learning music from his family and teachers of the mirasi traditions began at the age of 4 years.
