About the Event
An entrepreneur is known to use his hard work to get ahead of the curve, and in The Bohri Kitchen's case, Munaf takes advantage of his mom, Nafisa Kapadia's fantastic cooking skills and an in-built "motherly instinct" to feed people.
What started with a group of 9 of Munaf's acquaintances has now escalated to a home-dining experience that happens every weekend with over 25 people each day. "Since I ate that food as a kid, I never really appreciated my mom's cooking. Of course, I looked forward to every Sunday, since that meant Khichda (Bohri Haleem) for me, but nothing beyond that. At one home dining experience, someone told my mom that she had magic in her hands and that's the best meal they've ever had. It's the sparkle in her eyes that day that made me take a decision. A decision to leave my secure job at Google and make Bohri Kitchen a success," says Munaf Kapadia.
From that day onwards, there is no looking back. Today, The Bohri Kitchen operates on 3 verticals. Home dining experiences — which happen every weekend at the Kapadia residence in Mumbai. Home delivery — for people who are too lazy to come to the other extreme of town; they can enjoy authentic Bohri food with the mom's touch at the comfort of their home. Catering — where Munaf and his team bring the entire experience to you at your preferred venue.
The Bohri Kitchen also does various corporate orders where one can customize their meal. Their menu comprises authentic food from the lesser known Bohri cuisine which has influences of Gujrati, Middle Eastern and Yemeni food, since that's where the Dawoodi Bohra Community migrated from.
