About the Event
(to - mould) is a dance performance exploring the movement potential of earthen pots and their ritualistic and sculptural connections to the female body. Created by interdisciplinary artists Somya Kautia (Mumbai, India) and Sarah Elsworth (New Zealand), it draws on the pot’s symbolism as a vessel that, like the body, holds, carries, and endures. Positioned as an anchor and silent witness, the earthen pot absorbs untold stories and carries what cannot be spoken.
The performance opens with a ritual, inviting the audience into a tactile experience with clay—a moment to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with material of the earth. Through movements that cycle, knead, balance, hold, fire, and break, the piece evokes emotional states and imagery, asking us to consider how we both shape and are shaped by our environment in a continuous interplay.

Instructions:
1) Limited seating is available.

3) No late entries will be allowed. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of the programme.

6) We request you to bring warm clothes, as it gets chilly inside the black box due to temperature control requirements for technical purposes.
7) Food, beverages, and water are strictly prohibited inside the black box. Please do not carry them in your bags either.
8) Students must present a valid college ID at the box office. If a student ID card cannot be presented, the Regular Pass price of INR 249 will apply. This category of pass is only valid for students aged 21 and below.
