Join us in Bangalore for an enchanting evening of artistic fusion! Turiya presents "The Vast Empty: A Tryst of Dance, Violin, and Poetry," in collaboration with Bastian Consultants. Experience the mesmerizing synergy of Mamta Chander's poignant poetry from her acclaimed book, brought to life through captivating contemporary dance movements and soul-stirring violin melodies. About the artists:
Turiya
Turiya is the pen name of Mamta Chander, a Gurugram-based senior management professional. An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, she has worked for 25 years and now leads a large global team of consultants. She explains that Turiya means ‘the state of enlightenment or ultimate consciousness’. Seher Noor Mehra and Ashwathy, Performing artists and Choreographers
Seher has been dancing since the age of eight and has been trained extensively in a variety of forms like Bharatanatyam, Jazz, ballet, contemporary dance and yoga. She has also had the chance to train in certain Indian martial art and folk forms. She studied dance at the Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts through their Diploma Programme and also worked with Nritarutya Dance Company for over four years professionally as a full time company dancer. Seher is now a freelance performer, teacher and choreographer.
She believes that dance and movement are a very important mode of expression and have the capacity to initiate change in its deepest form. She teaches extensively and has taken a number of workshops for children and adults, ranging from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels. Her solo works include two 40 minute productions ‘Ricochet’ and ‘Excerpts from a muddled mind’- Her work, classes and performances are an amalgamation of her years of training and are heavily inspired by personal experiences and interactions with the world, its frequencies, vibrations and elements. She continues to learn, train, adapt, evolve and create.
Thomson, Indian Violinist
Thomas nom de guerre Tom is an Indian Violinist, Music Composer and a Live Performer having the roots from the God's own state - Kerala, clung to the strings of Violin at the age of 4. Under the unwavering guidance of Sri Udayabhanu, he is tuned into carnatic flair and Mr Vijayan Japheth has helped him fiddle the Western ilk. The passion for music has only grown organically ever since and has enchanted him to find HIS style. From carnatic to psybient and from experimental adaptations to world music, Tom loves to twiddle it through his strings.
