Bhimashankar is a dream destination for any trekker, a perfect setting for an exciting adventure.

Bhimashankar Temple is located in the village of Bhorgiri 50 km North West of Khed, near Pune, in the ghat region of the Sahyadri hills.

The Bhimashankara temple is a composite of old and the new structures and is built in the Nagara style of architecture. It is a modest yet graceful temple and it dates back to mid-18th century. The shikhara of the temple was built by Nana Phadnavis.

Gupt Bhimashankar:

It is a 2kms downhill trek from the temple in thick forest. The Bhima River which originates from the temple flows to this place disappears and then suddenly originates further ahead. It said to be the origin of the River Bhima.

Trek Via Khandas - Sidhi ghat:

The route going to the left from the bridge goes to the village. The route to the left of the well in the village leads to the Shidi Ghat. This is one of the difficult routes to Bhimashankar. This route becomes very treacherous and slippery during the monsoon. There are three ladders in this route within the first two hours of climbing. One reaches a settlement after half an hour of the third ladder. This route is called "Sidhi" ghat because of ladder (Sidhi) placed on the routes.
