About the Event
The power of a good story multiplies when it's Twice Told. You think you know how the story goes when you read it. But then you hear it again and it's fresh! TwiceTold is proud to host a discussion with Nisha Nair about the books she has curated and edited, People Called Ladakh: Through the Lens of Culture and Everyday Lives & Awaaz: Voices of Govandi. Nisha will be joined by the authors of the books, Manasi Chokshi and Naima Choudhary.
About Nisha, Manasi and Naima:
Nisha: Nisha Nair is an architect, urban researcher and writer. She is currently a PhD research scholar in the Centre of Urban Science and Engineering at IIT-Mumbai, with a keen research interest in urban mobilities, social spaces and spatial justice. She spearheads the publishing initiative ‘People Place Project’, which has been invested in urban research, pedagogy and publication since its inception. As part of a publication initiative looking at creating literature/books/writing/media on urban consciousness, her responsibilities are creative, editorial, content and growth strategies. She has published five books as a curator and editor.
Manasi: An architect by qualification and teacher by heart, Manasi is passionate about history, Indology, research and writing.
Currently, a core faculty at one of IES College of Architecture Manasi has also been recipient of the ‘MASA best teacher’s award 2019. She also runs a design practice ‘The Grid Studio’ with her architect and photographer husband Subin Selva.
Naima: Naima Chaudhary has a masters in Urdu literature, and is currently pursuing her PHD. She teaches in a school and loves to explore new things , and want to learn about technology.
The discussion will be led and chaired by Gopal MS, also known as Mumbai Paused. Gopal MS is a photographer and writer who has been documenting life on the streets of Mumbai at mumbaipaused.com for the last 10 years. He loves the city and the stories that spill out on to the streets with limited space. He is also the author of several photobooks based on his documentation of the city.
