About the Event

The World Economic Forum estimates it will take eighty years to achieve gender parity in the workplace. Women have already made impressive progress in boardrooms, but what about other fields of work?

The U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, Penguin Random House India and Avid Learning present Women Innovators in the Emergent Era, a panel discussion on the emerging and increasing power of women in the workplace and various creative fields beyond the business like the arts, technology and more in India and abroad.

Join International Business Author and former Vice Chair of General Electric Beth Comstock, Artist and Former Director of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Mumbai, Brinda Miller (TBD), Food Entrepreneur and Founder, The Table Gauri Devidayal and Deputy Country Representative, UN Women Nishtha Satyam in conversation with President- Emerging Businesses, Essar Group and CEO, Litmus World Sandip Sen.

These pioneering leaders and voices will discuss expanding perspectives on the changing face of businesses and the creative fields in India with emerging gender diversity and inclusivity fueling empowerment.

They will discuss how women in India have increasingly gained more important roles in innovation, entrepreneurship, the media, and the arts and probe new leadership roles being created for and by women in these fields. They will also discuss the best practices to be learnt from successful gender integration in the workplace abroad while unpacking some of the complex challenges to the participation of women in Indian innovation and entrepreneurship (in the business and creative fields) and how it could be better facilitated. They will seek answers to questions like: How have women impacted emerging economies in these fields? How have they leveraged channels like social media and digital platforms to make an impact? What role do men play in reducing gender parities? How can they be part of an accessible network of support? In India, what are the social and socio-economic factors that come into play and how is an educated, innovative and intellectual female workforce gaining ground in business and the creative industries? Who are some of the role models from India and abroad that are spearheading the shift?

Our remarkable speakers will also bring their own notable experiences as game changers in their respective fields, talking about their experiences as women in their industry, how they broke the glass ceiling, innovated and excelled and triumphed as professionals and for their gender.

Join us for a power-packed session on understanding evolving gender roles and the way women in the creative and business workforce are changing how we work and innovate for the better.
