This foundational workshop will mark the beginning of an exciting journey with writing fiction. Our aim is to help you write better stories i.e. stories that readers can't put down and stories that you'll be proud to have written.
Takeaways:
You will gain practical insights into the elements of craft and get started on this journey with fiction. Group discussions and readings are a big part of this workshop. Our teaching is experiential, meaning we don't just teach you about fishing technique, but you'll also understand what it is to be the angler, the water and the fish. You will find yourself outlining plots, experimenting with structure, reworking dialogue and perhaps even rethinking the idea of what makes a story. Name a city in France. Did you think of Paris? That's the default response. In this workshop you'll learn to move away from the default response and make creative choices that serve the narrative. Yes, we're going to make you work hard. But you will have fun and find yourself surrounded by people who truly care about writing. You'll also go back armed with specific feedback on your writing as well as guidance on editing, publishing and the road ahead. Come, join us.
Date: 25th and 26th May
10 am to 4 pm
Lunch, a view of the sea and lots of fun included!
