Introduction to Musical Improvisational Theatre with Liz Peters and Ed Zanders (4 hours)

This 4-hour workshop offers a fun and gentle introduction to the joy of musical improv, such as creating rhymes, setting up song structures, finding common ground and letting your imagination take shape.

Creating improvised songs together is one of the most liberating things you can do. For the audience, it looks like a miracle, for the performers it feels like flying. In a supportive environment, you will be accompanied by a musician as you get comfortable with improvised singing and start learning how to create songs in the moment. Singing is for everyone, no ‘talent’ or musical knowledge is necessary – it’s all about joyful commitment! We’ll laugh, play and enjoy the ride together.

This workshop is recommended for students, performers, improvisers and actors who are interested in musical theatre and singing on stage. No prior experience in music or singing is required, but is more than welcome. The workshop requires physical mobility, please let us know in advance in case you require additional access support.

The workshop will be held at Sanskriti Kendra in Aya Nagar, South Delhi. Participants can sign up for the workshop for INR 1499 (regular price) or INR 1349 (early bird prices till March 31st). Participants can also sign up to this workshop and three other workshops (Essentials of Acting for Improvisers, Harry Potter Improv, Jane Austen Improv) for a combined workshop pass at INR 5999/-. 

About The Facilitators

Liz Peters is a UK-based improviser, performer and coach with over 20 years of experience. She is co-Artistic Director of The Maydays, one of UK's leading improvisational theatre companies. She teaches improvisation around the world, working with organizations and individuals to unlock potential using applied improvisation. She trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. She is also the author of 'Own It! How to boss your fears, free your voice and inspire the room'.

Ed Zanders is a London based composer and musical director. He studied classical composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, under Malcolm Singer. He is currently a deputy keyboard player on Les Misérables (Sondheim) and Operation Mincemeat (Fortune). Ed also improvises, most often with Mischief Theatre in their Olivier award nominated show Mischief Movie Night. He has played with them on tour around the UK and in the West End as well as for their online run Mischief Movie Night In. He wrote the music for Mischief's Charlie Russell Aims to Please for its sold out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022.
